Welder II

We are looking for a skilled Welder familiar with advanced welding techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG,or Flux-Core) to join a variety of metals and alloys. A welder must be competent in using potentially dangerous equipment following all safety precautions. The ideal candidate will be able to produce welds that will pass visual and non-destructive testing inspections, and possess great attention to detail. Knowledge of different kinds of metal and their properties is essential. 

A weld test interview, pre-employment and random drug screening tests are required for this role.

The position's essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Ensure all work performed consistently meets quality standards.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, weld symbols and specifications to properly layout, fabricate and weld within allowable tolerance.
• Read WPS and PQR and follow all variables to become a qualified ASME section IX welder.
• Must be able to qualify in the 6G position with TIG, produce x-ray quality welds with a high passing rate.
• Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
• Set up, adjust, and operate welding equipment and tools safely and efficiently.
• Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
• Operate angle grinders/saw to prepare the parts that must be welded
• Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of welds to ensure compliance with quality standards and codes.
• Perform intermediate-level fabrication and assembly work with minimal supervision.
• Experience with oxyacetylene and plasma cutting techniques, including torch setup, adjustment and safety practices.
• Position requires overtime, including Saturday.
• Adhere to all safety guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years welding, preferably in stainless steel and carbon steel piping/pressure vessels.
• Ability to custom fit various piping, tubing, and clamps onto skid base.
• Ability to perform weld repairs on different pipe sizes.
• Ability to pass NDT on weld performed in 6G position.
• Complete understanding of blueprints and ability to work from written and verbal instructions.
• Thorough experience using a wide variety of hand tools and capable of fitting and setting up details required for fabricated assemblies.
• Knowledge of basic computer operation.

• Professional Certification will be a plus

Work Environment

• Job will generally be performed in a factory but may require international travel to a client's production facility or industrial/construction job site.
• Conditions will vary at each location, but the conditions listed above will generally apply.

Physical Demands

• To perform the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk and hear, and use fingers and hands to write and feel objects, tools, or operate welding machines.
• Overtime may be necessary as the workload dictates. This could include weekdays, weekends, nights and/or holidays.
• Ability to lift to 40 lbs. may be required.

• Complete safety training requirements.
• Participate in other training as directed by the company or manager.
• Wear Nikkiso approved PPE as needed and direct team and others to do the same as appropriate.
